ABOUT THE CLUB

Marsh Scuba Supply and The Aquatic Explorers Scuba Club have agreed to form a partnership to mutually support each other. What this means  is that we will be combining the social and dive schedules of both into one calendar for more diving opportunities. It also gives all of us another outlet to get together, socialize, talk diving and have fun. The Aquatic Explorers offers benefits and services that you cannot find anywhere else. Much of the Marsh Scuba staff has been members there for years.

The club was first incorporated June 21st 1957 as the Empire State Rescue Squad. The club began teaching SCUBA in 1958 which enabled the club to grow to 33 members. In 1960 they decided to change their name to the Aquatic Explorers.

They are also affiliated with the New York State Divers Association (NYSDA). NYSDA is a not-for-profit association of individuals and groups whose purpose is to promote diving and dive safety.  NYSDA has represented divers in New York State since 1961.  NYSDA provides information to local, state, and national legislative and regulatory bodies to represent and protect divers’ interests

The Aquatic Explorers also hosts the annual Wappinger Creek Water Derby; an 8 mile canoe/ kayak race that runs the last Saturday in April.
